JENNIFER Hawkins will opt for a feminine pastel-coloured frock today for the Melbourne Cup.

The former Miss Universe will not participate in the television coverage of the Cup, but will instead kick up her designer heels.

She has just a couple of guest appearances scheduled for Myer today.

The Holmesville-raised beauty will be wearing a frock by designer Nicola Finetti. A favourite designer of Hawkins, Finetti has also dressed stars such as Miranda Otto, Dannii Minogue and Mischa Barton.

Hawkins wore traditional black and white colours on Derby Day, which she also spent swanning around Flemington.

Hawkins and her stylist, Kelly Smythe, plan what the former Knights cheerleader will wear for Melbourne Cup for about six weeks with just a few little last-minute adjustments.

Hawkins's dress will be teamed with a headpiece by Kerry Stanley, and Leona Edmiston shoes.

Hawkins's love of the Cup dates back to school days when she used to listen to the race on radio while waiting for the bus.
